Good idea, minor hiccup

I bought the Early Reader Bundle for my daughter. The concept of using her photos for phonics is brilliant, and the quality of the print and paper is definitely good. The books are durable enough for little hands. However, one of the photos I uploaded was slightly blurry on my end, and it wasn't caught in the proofing stage, so it printed that way. My fault for not double-checking before approving, but a quick heads-up from their side would have been nice. Still, she loves the books and it's a valuable learning tool.

Great book, slow proofing

I ordered a Personalized Phonics Book for my niece last month. The ordering process was straightforward; uploading photos was easy enough, even from my phone. I got the digital proof about 4 days later, which felt a bit long, but once I approved it, the book shipped within two days. It then took 5 days to reach Denver. The quality of the book itself is really good, sturdy pages and bright colors. She loves seeing her own face in the book. Customer support was responsive when I inquired about the proofing delay, explained they were busy. Overall, a good product, just factor in the proofing time.

Solid value for the price

I was looking for a good deal on a personalized book and found their Consonant Blends Custom Book. I used a first-order discount code I found online, which saved me a bit. The total price felt reasonable for a custom item. Shipping was free because my order was over $50, which was a nice bonus. The book arrived in about a week and a half. For what I paid, it felt like a worthwhile investment in my child's reading journey. Definitely got my money's worth.

My nephew loved it

So, I decided to get my nephew one of those Custom Name Phonics Books, you know, with his face in it. It was pretty cool! Uploading the pictures was no big deal, just dragged 'em in. The book came pretty fast, like, sooner than I thought it would. He totally lit up when he saw himself. It's a fun way to get them into reading, seemed to work for him. Definitely a solid gift idea.

Always a good choice

I've bought several books from We Can Books over the past two years, mostly the Custom Photo Reading Book for various family members. This last one, a Kindergarten Readiness Pack, arrived exactly as expected. The quality is consistently high, and the personalization always turns out great. Shipping was standard, about a week total after I approved the proof, which is what I've come to expect. It's why I keep coming back; they're reliable, and the kids really engage with these books.

I want to buy 3 books, will I get a discount or something? Like a bundle deal?

B Ben 1 month ago
They often have multi-book pack savings or sometimes a 'buy 3 get 1 free' kind of deal, especially around holidays. Check their current promotions.

Anyone compared We Can Books to Wonderbly? Wondering which one is better for actual reading skills.

S Sarah M. 2 months ago
Wonderbly is fun for the story but We Can Books focuses way more on phonics and actual reading. If you want to boost literacy, I'd go with We Can Books.

I have both for my kids. Wonderbly is more imaginative story-wise. We Can Books is definitely stronger for the educational phonics aspect, especially with the personal photos.

How many photos do you need for one of the personalized books? Trying to figure out if I have enough good ones.

J Jared C. 1 month ago
I think it was around 10-15 per book, but they're pretty clear about it when you're designing it. You can just upload what you have and they guide you.

It depends on the book, but usually not a ton. Enough to make it feel really personal for the kid, but not so many that it's a huge chore to upload.

Are these books actually good for teaching phonics or is it mostly just a cute photo thing?

E Elena D. 1 month ago
They actually use the 'Science of Reading' approach, it's not just fluff. My kid's teacher even mentioned it was a good supplement.

It's both! My daughter loves seeing her pictures but she's also definitely picked up on some sounds from the way the words are presented. Much better than some other personalized books we've tried.

Hey has anyone used these books for a 3-year-old? The site says 4-5 but my kid is super into letters already.

S Steve Ito 1 month ago
Yeah, my niece is almost 4 and loves hers. I think the 4-5 is just a general guide, if your kid is already into reading prep, they'll probably be fine.

My son is 3.5 and we got him one. He really likes seeing his face in it and pointing out letters. Some parts are a bit advanced for him still but he's growing into it.
